Frequently Asked Questions

A gentle place to begin.

Answers to common questions about yoga therapy, private yoga, and what it's like to work together.

What is the difference between Yoga Therapy and Private Yoga Sessions?

Yoga Therapy is a clinical, personalized approach that addresses physical, emotional, and nervous system–based patterns through movement, somatics, breathwork, and therapeutic education. Sessions are tailored to a specific concern such as pain, anxiety, trauma, grief, mobility challenges, chronic stress, or life transitions.

Private Yoga Sessions (Deep Release, Deep Rest, Deep Breath) are intentionally curated practices that support well-being but are not clinical. They focus on improving mobility, deepening rest, or cultivating mindful breathing.

If you're seeking healing, regulation, or support with specific challenges, Yoga Therapy is the best fit. If you're seeking personalized practice, relaxation, or gentle guidance, Private Yoga is ideal.

How do I know whether to begin with a Yoga Therapy Assessment or a Private Yoga Session?

Choose a Yoga Therapy Assessment if you:

  • Are dealing with pain, injury, anxiety, grief, trauma, or chronic stress
  • Want to understand your movement, breath, or nervous system patterns
  • Prefer a therapeutic home practice designed specifically for your needs
  • Are looking for deeper healing or long-term support

Choose a Private Yoga Session if you:

  • Want a guided yoga experience
  • Are seeking relaxation, mobility, or breathwork/mindfulness for general well-being

Still unsure? I can help guide you based on a brief conversation.

What happens during the Initial Yoga Therapy Assessment?

Your 90-minute assessment includes:

  • A full evaluation of your movement, posture, breath, and nervous system tendencies
  • A conversation about your health history, symptoms, stressors, and goals
  • Personalized somatic and breath practices you can begin using immediately

This session creates the roadmap for your therapeutic journey.

What can I expect in a Follow-Up Yoga Therapy Session?

Follow-up sessions are progressive and adapt to your needs week to week. You can expect:

  • Refinement of your somatic and breath practices
  • Nervous system support and emotional regulation tools
  • Pain management techniques
  • Trauma-informed guidance
  • Adjustments to your home practice

Sessions build stability, resilience, and a deeper connection to your body.

How often should I schedule sessions?

Most clients seeking Yoga Therapy complete their work over 8–14 weeks, depending on their personal goals. Sessions are scheduled every 2–3 weeks.

For ongoing healing, many clients continue with biweekly to monthly sessions depending on symptom severity and personal goals.

Private Yoga sessions may be scheduled individually as many or as few times as you like.

Do I need prior yoga experience?

No. Everything is tailored to meet you where you are. Both Yoga Therapy and Private Yoga are accessible for complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

What should I wear or bring to a session?

Wear clothing you can be comfortable in, and expect some gentle movement. Bring water and your mat. Props may also be helpful—a few simple household items (blanket, pillow, chair) work well.

Virtual sessions also require a quiet space to practice.

What are the Private Yoga offerings?

You may choose from:

  • Deep Release — Yin Yoga: Long-held floor poses to unwind deep tension and improve mobility.
  • Deep Rest — Restorative Yoga: Fully supported postures designed to calm the nervous system and promote deep rest.
  • Deep Breath — Pranayama & Mindfulness: Guided breathwork and meditation to cultivate clarity, steadiness, and emotional balance.

These sessions can be booked individually and customized to your needs.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes. A limited number of sliding-scale spots are available for clients experiencing financial hardship or major life transitions. No documentation required—your honesty is enough.

Do you offer short check-ins between Yoga Therapy sessions?

Yes. Virtual Mini Check-Ins (20 minutes) provide:

  • Breath resets
  • Emotional regulation support
  • Quick adjustments to your home practice
  • Guidance during moments of overwhelm

These are designed to bridge your therapeutic sessions with real-time support as needed.

Are packages refundable or transferable?

Packages are nonrefundable but may be used over an extended period. Sessions are not transferable unless previously discussed.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

A 24-hour cancellation window is needed to avoid being charged for the session. Emergencies are always handled with compassion—just reach out. We can discuss a more detailed cancellation policy at the time of your booking.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. All sessions, both Yoga Therapy and Private Yoga, are virtual only at this time.
